What is Pilates

“A natural logical and common sense approach to exercise.”

Pilates is an exercise programme, formerly known as ‘contrology’ developed by Joseph Pilates over 80 years ago.

It is unique in that it offers a totally balanced approach to movement.

By concentrating on strengthening your core postural muscles, and with specific exercise taught through correct posture and alignment, you strengthen the weaker muscles releasing the tighter muscles, developing muscle balance.

This then allows the body to move freely and efficiently, with out undue stress or strain on the joints and body as a whole.

Contrology (Pilates) develops the body uniformly, corrects wrong postures, restores physical vitality, invigorates the mind and elevates the spirit
